My goal is to create a classroom environment where all students feel welcome, respected and safe. I ask that students speak thoughtfully. Derogatory, threatening or inappropriate comments (even joking) regarding race, religion, sexual orientation, physical or mental attributes will not be tolerated.
I believe that a classroom is a place to learn life skills as well as mathematics. In addition to teaching content, I will also focus on goal setting, self reflection, and communication. We will also touch on topics such as respect, empathy, integrity and perseverance.
Geometry assignments will ask students to compare, predict and transfer prior knowledge to new situations. Through all of these efforts I hope to foster student mathematicians who feel comfortable asking questions, can share what they know, and explain to others what they have learned.
